Understand

Psalm 86 is a personal prayer for help from someone who calls himself poor, needy, and threatened. The speaker moves from urgent petitions to praise of God's uniqueness, asks to be taught an undivided way of life, and returns to the danger posed by proud and violent enemies. The psalm ends by asking for a visible sign of God's goodness so that enemies will see that Yahweh has helped and comforted him.
