Experience

Independent Software & Automation Engineer — Self-Employed, Austin, TX · May 2022–Present

Field Service Engineer — View, Inc., Milpitas, CA · 2016–2020

  • Commissioned enterprise smart-glass deployments across the US, Canada, the UK, and the EU — controller config and BMS integration on the laptop, multimeter on the pigtails under the facade.
  • Daily trade scrum on every site — glaziers, electricians, the GC, the site super, the building manager, the paying customer — keeping the schedule honest across all of them.
  • After handoff: service calls on live buildings, onboarding new facilities vendors, cleaning up the occasional botched repair.
  • Dispatched to sales calls when the team needed a field engineer who could prove the glass worked in front of a customer.
  • Salesforce, own travel, expense reports — the admin tail of being the only person on the ground.

Customer Service Engineer — Christie Digital · 2008–2009

  • Field engineer through the cinema industry's switch from 35mm film to digital — commissioning installs, troubleshooting on the way up, turning over working theaters.
  • Maintenance and on-call response for live 24/7/365 theaters where every hour of downtime was lost revenue.
  • Only Christie face the customer — and the union projectionist the tech was phasing out — ever saw. Cooperation took respect first.
  • Left in 2009 for Columbia on the post-9/11 GI Bill.
