The traditional Seven Last Words is a later harmonized collection assembled from distinct Gospel passion narratives. Luke 23:34 is textually disputed; the other sayings also need witness-specific treatment rather than a claim of uniform stability.
The collection is useful for comparing each Gospel's literary and theological presentation, provided that a later harmony is not mistaken for a single ancient source and textual variants are stated openly.

Reading or source note: ὅτε οὖν ἔλαβεν τὸ ὄξος ὁ Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν· Τετέλεσται, καὶ κλίνας τὴν κεφαλὴν παρέδωκεν τὸ πνεῦμα.
P66 attests this passage, but the line shown is normalized SBLGNT rather than a diplomatic transcription of the papyrus. Τετέλεσται means 'it has been completed' or 'it is finished.' Its perfect aspect does not encode 'forever,' and a special receipt-stamp or priestly meaning is not established by the form.
Reading or source note: The saying is omitted by P75, the first hand of Sinaiticus, Vaticanus, and several other witnesses, but included in many others and known to Irenaeus.
Both the early omission and early patristic attestation matter; the direction and history of the variant remain disputed.
