Chapter XXXIV.—Evarestus, the Fourth Bishop of the Church of Rome.

1. In the third year of the reign of the emperor mentioned above, [1] Clement [2] committed the episcopal government of the church of Rome to Evarestus, [3] and departed this life after he had superintended the teaching of the divine word nine years in all.
