Understand
On the third day Esther puts on her glory and walks through the doors to the throne — leaning on one maid, her train carried by another, 'a mind full of anguish' hidden behind a rosy face. The king looks up with burning eyes; the queen collapses. 'And God changed the king's spirit into mildness': he leaps from the throne, holds her up, and says the words the scene exists for — 'What is the matter, Esther? I am thy brother, fear not. Thou shalt not die.'
